Saint Stanislaus College did not have to go looking too far for their next head football coach. In fact, the candidate was already on staff. On Monday, May 21st Saint Stanislaus College announced the promotion of Nathan Encrapera to Head Coach to lead the Rock-A-Chaw Football Team beginning with the 2018 season. Coach Encrapera has been a member of the teaching faculty at Saint Stanislaus for two years but has been coaching at the school since 2010. He served as defensive coordinator for the Rocks the past three years. During his coaching tenure at SSC, Coach Encrapera has gained tremendous respect and admiration from his fellow coaches, players and parents in football and baseball according to Principal Gary Blackburn. He stated, “Nate is a great teacher of young men both in and out of the classroom and I have every confidence he will do an outstanding job in this new role.” Coach Encrapera is originally from Virginia and received his Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts from Thomas Edison State University in Trenton, New Jersey. He has been in coaching since 1998 on the East Coast. He has served as an assistant baseball coach at Grafton High School in Yorktown, VA, from 1998-2000, assistant baseball and football coach at Jamestown High School in Williamsburg, VA, from 2000-05. He also has previous head coaching experience serving as head baseball coach at Walsingham Academy in Williamsburg, VA in 2006. In 2007, Encrapera coached one year at Menchville High School in Newport News, VA. In 2010, Encrapera began his coaching at Saint Stanislaus College as an assistant football and baseball coach in 2010 as a para-professional while serving his country at the US Navy’s CB base in Gulfport. He joined the SSC faculty in a full-time role in August 2015 and became the defensive coordinator while individually coaching linebackers. Coach Encrapera stated, “I am extremely humbled that the Saint Stanislaus College administration has chosen me from a very talented pool of applicants to be the next head coach. I follow some outstanding head coaches in the tradition that is Saint Stanislaus football. There is a deep rooted tradition within the program and we have had some tremendous success recently. I am looking forward to the challenge that has been presented to me. Our first step will be to bring these young players forward quickly and put them into positions where they can play fast. In many areas, we do not have a lot of experience with snaps but the good thing is our systems will not change. We need to get stronger in the weightroom and increase our team speed. We, as a staff, are ready to embrace the challenges ahead.” Encrapera will remain as an assistant coach with the varsity baseball program, as well as, continue his teaching duties in the Social Studies department.
