The Honorable Ajit Pai, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), was greeted by Captain Bill Whitmire, commanding officer of the Naval Construction Battalion Center (NCBC) in Gulfport on May 1. Pai visited the base as part of a week-long tour of the Gulf South states to get a better understanding of how broadband impacts consumers in this region.
