The Saint Stanislaus College Rock-a-chaws soccer team climbed the mountain in 2018 and took the top spot over all the land on Saturday at Brandon High School with a 1-0 victory over the Amory Panthers.
It is a perch that is extremely familiar to SSC as the victory gave the program its ninth Class 4A state title since 1996.
SSC is a program that understands what the term consistency means. Saturday’s appearance was their 13th berth in the state championship game. They have hoisted the trophy nine times (1996-97, 2003-04, 2010, 2014-16, and 2018).
On Saturday against Amory, the Rocks (19-3-1) proved again just how consistent they are as a team.
The squad kept the pressure offense at full throttle and the defense allowed just three shots on goal in 80 minutes of action.
The Rocks lose just four seniors from this title team with Beau Rimmer, Charlie DeMetz, Parker Slade and Gabe Toepfer.
SSC Head Coach Danny Patton and his staff return 13 seniors next year along with several juniors and a few sophomores that all can contribute in some way to the varsity lineup.
