Tuesday morning, long-time Mississippi Housing Gaming Committee Chairman Richard Bennett (R-Long Beach, E Pass Christian) was unofficially appointed to lead the House Education Committee. Bennett will fill the vacancy left last month when previous Chairman John Moore (R-Pelahatchie) retired.
Numerous local officials and state legislators sourced the appointment, although word has not been received yet from Speaker Philip Gunn’s (R-Madison) yet. Bennett represents two “A” level public school districts on the Coast in Long Beach and Pass Christian.
