VFW Post 5931 held a raffle during “Christmas in the Pass” event on Dec. 1. The group raffled off a Christmas wreath with all the proceeds going to the “Christian Concern Ministries Food Pantry” in Pass Christian.
The donations raised $350 and the post matched the funds. A check for $700 was presented to the director, Joseph Piernas. The food pantry supports 170 families in the community. The food pantry does receive assistance from government sources but from generous organizations and private donations.
VFW Commander Mark Carter and Quartermaster Joseph Boisvenue presented the check to the food pantry as part of the VFW’s commitment to community involvement.
