Soccer District play began with high intensity last Friday at McDonald Stadium.

Both girls and boys Pass High teams beat cross-town rivals Bay High in different fashions.

Girls: Pass Christian 3 | Bay St. Louis 0

From the opening 40 min-ute half, the Lady Pirates (6-3, 1-0) dominated Bay for the second consecutive year. Recording three goals by Aubrey Baughman, Madison LaFontaine, and Kamdyn Skinner helped set the pace, as Pass secured the victory when not allowing the Lady Tigers on the scoreboard.

The Lady Pirates play at 6pm Friday in Moss Point for their second district game.

Boys: Pass Christian 0 | Bay St. Louis 0 (Pass 3-2 Shutout)

Despite the Pirates (5-3, 1-0) needing 120 minutes (double overtime), the upset happened over the state powerhouse Bay Tigers in a 3-2 penalty kick shootout.

“Two rivals bat-tling it out didn’t make it the most pretty game,” said Pass High Boys Soccer Coach Jeremy Greenslade, “but the boys fought hard and aggressively attacked.”

Pirate Freshman Goalkeeper Diego Gutierrez fought off two penalty kicks in the Shootout to assure Pass High’s victory.

The boys play Friday at 7:30 in Moss Point following the Girls matchup.
