Authorities in Hancock County are searching for a man who apparently robbed the Hancock Bank in Waveland Tuesday afternoon and then fled into the woods.
Although details are limited at this time, law enforcers said at about 5:20p.m. a black male wearing an orange wig entered the Waveland Hancock Bank branch located on Hwy 90 and robbed it by note.
The unidentified suspect then fled into a nearby residential area behind the bank, authorities said.
Police have roped off an area on Old Spanish Trail and Highway 90 to east of the bank in search of the suspect. Video footage from inside the bank is also being reviewed.
It is unclear if the suspect was armed.
No injuries have been reported.
Police urge that if anyone should see the suspect, not to confront him, but rather call 911 or Central Dispatch at 228-255-9191.
We will update this story as more details emerge.
