Hancock County Criminal Investigation Division have teamed up with Louisiana officials to examine a grizzle discovery found along I-10 Wednesday afternoon. The body of a badly decomposed man was discovered wrapped in carpet on the Michoud on-ramp in New Orleans East, officials said. Investigators say they are working to identify if the remains are that of a missing Hancock County man who was last seen was Nov. 8 in Harrison County.
Tuesday, authorities with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department requested the public’s assistance in locating 54-year-old Philip Whitaker who was last seen at the Love’s Pharmacy picking up his prescription medications. Hancock County Chief Investigator Glenn Grannan would not confirm if the body is that of Whitaker, yet may have reason to believe it.
